IN MEMORIUM

Michael Andrew Dunn
1947 - 1989

Mike "Runnie" Dunn was the second son of John and Joan Dunn. Mike was a typical Dunn - a great tennis player, perhaps the best player in the family. He had a stellar high school career going undefeated for 4 years at Syosset High School. Mike was also a talented artist. His creativity was demonstrated in many of his drawings and renderings, which are on display at the Mountain View Office Complex in Pennsylvania.

Mike had a great love for his country and after graduation joined the US Army. In 1968 he served with the 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive.

After his tour of duty Mike received a tennis scholarship from Texas Wesleyan College in Austin, Texas and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1974.

Upon his graduation he returned to Long Island where he was a local tennis pro for many years at the Hempstead Country Club.

Mike had a great love of landscaping and spent many hours in the early development of the Cold Spring Valley Racquet Club planting trees, shrubs and perennials. Today the natural beauty and landscaping at the club is a product of the many hours of work Mike put in. His love for the club was his great joy in life before he passed away in 1989.

Dennis Gregory Dunn
1956 - 2003

Dennis "Diamond" Dunn was the fifth son of John and Joan Dunn. Dennis, like Mike was a great tennis player. He was also a local hockey star. After graduation from high school Dennis went on to college at the University of Scranton and graduated with a degree in History. It was during these years that Dennis developed a love of the guitar and piano. In time he became an accomplished musician.

After graduation Dennis moved out to Long Beach, California where he began a career in banking. While in California he got a call from his father, who asked Dennis to return home to manage the Cold Spring Valley Racquet Club. Dennis, being a faithful and loving son, knew his parents wanted to spend more time at their home in Vero Beach, Florida. The rest of the family implored Dennis to come home. Everyone missed his dynamic personality and incredible sense of humor.

Dennis returned to New York and successfully managed the club for the next ten years. The club had many growing pains but Dennis managed to provide the leadership and skills that were needed to keep the club on a steady course of development and growth. He literally had hundreds of friends and members at the club that loved to spend time with him. Like Michael, his love of the club was the great joy of his life before passing away in September 2003.

Michael and Dennis have left legacies that will never be forgotten.
They are loved and missed everyday
